Clink, clink, clink....Warriors.....come out and play-ay....

On the nights I get my herr did, at the fabulous Bouffant Daddy salon in Maplewood, I stop by Kakao for a bit of extra dark chocolate w/sea salt.

So late last night, while winding down and catching up on some Tivo’d shows, I broke out the chocolate and had a tiny bit.

Let it be known that if I eat anything past 7:00 pm it usually leads to vivid dreams.

Last night was no exception.

My first dream took me back to college, and my ex bf/future husband was there, as was Maggie, the dog we adopted together. She’s since passed on, and it was very bittersweet to see her. And somewhat bittersweet to see the ex….those were good times.

Then I woke up about 1:30, laid there, tossed and turned, and finally fell back asleep.

My second dream was very detailed. I was in the movie The Warriors, and I was an extra Lizzie. The Lizzies were a girl gang, all fros and tough-sexy. So the dream consisted of me running around with the girl gang, chasing the Warriors among the dark  and dirty NYC streets. There was steam sifting up from manholes and streetlights and it was damp and a little chilly. I was wearing this pink, satin rollerskating jacket I used to have back in gradeschool, jeans and boots. My hair was frizzed out, and I had a bandana around my neck.

Too vivid, I’m telling ya.

It was a fun dream – I feel like I ran the entire time.

I’m wondering what effect dark chocolate w/pepper would have…might try it soon.

Here is a clip of the Lizzies vs Warriors, so you can visualize me in the scene:

Below is my FAVORITE clip of all time....super creepy, classic:

Random

Schenectady is so pleasing to say. It's a very crisp word. Say it out loud...it's tight, right? Schenectady. Schenectady. Ahh....

I 'm overdue for one of those rare, thundery/rainy mornings to catch up on quality slumber. It's been too long. If I lived in Seattle, I would be the most well-rested person on the planet.

I successfully fought of a case of sticky fingers today and didn't steal a band poster from the outside wall at Mangia. Had no idea who the band was, but the artwork was super cool.

At a local gas station there was a basket filled with green peppers by the register. I asked the cashier if they were selling well, and she said they were free. I think this is amazing. And kind weird.

The other night I woke up in the middle of an awesome dream, and decided to quickly close my eyes in hopes of falling back asleep an dpicking up where the dream left off. I did. Wondering now what other magical powers I have...here's hoping for flight...

There are a few movies that, if I find are playing on cable while flipping through channels, I will stop and watch until the end. Shawshank, 27 Dresses, Saturday Night Fever, and Step Up to name a few. All choice flicks, wouldn't you agree?

Weirdassnight

Yup, I've coined a new phrase.

Weirdassnight.

I was reallllly tired yesterday, and was in bed by 9:00, grandma-style. I woke up at 1:30, my head full of random thoughts, specific thoughts. I swear, about 4 plausible real-life movies starring moi played out in my wide-awake noggin between the hours of 1:30 - 4:00.

Yawn.

Never mind that I had to get up at 5:30 to meet with my trainer at 6:00.

So as I lay awake, running through every trick in the book to try and calm my overactive brain, I finally decided that perhaps I should let it run it's course and see wassup.

It wasn't pretty.

But what was even less pretty was the dream I had after I finally did get to sleep, whatever time that was (I opted to stop looking at the clock after 4:00). My weirdassdream (second new word) included:

1. Co-ed, open-air bathrooms

2. An insane asylum that I was trying to escape from

3. A very sweet yet weird pseudo-boyfriend that kept clearing the table and asking random questions like, "Why is pi not a whole number?" and "Can we go to the casino later?"

4. The old gym at Hagen Jr. High School (grody)

5. Being chased by two very strange looking, scientific-types in lab coats (see #2)

I feel pretty awake now, in part due to the ass-whuppin' I got from Kelly the trainer this morning.

I wish I had the option to push "record" when these dreams happen. I believe I'd give Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino a run for their money.
